The Doshi Monoblock V3.0

After more than a decade of continuous refinement, the Doshi Monoblock has achieved an unprecedented standard of sonic excellence. The impressive new KT150 Output Tube has empowered us to fully implement the Doshi Design Philosophy, which mandates using the simplest possible circuitry in order to avoid degradation of the audio signal. To define today‘s state-of-the-art, Doshi reached back to the “Golden Age“ of Tube Electronics and created a modern version of the classic Pentode Output circuit. This topology enables Doshi to generate over 200 watts per channel with only three active gain stages and four output tubes.

In keeping with the Doshi design ethos, our Monoblock incorporates “Component De-Stressing“ whereby every part is vastly overspecified for its application. Our output transformers, for example, are designed for continuous output in excess of 400 watts: double the Monoblock’s power rating. Utilizing such massive transformers prevents core saturation during periods of high power output at low frequencies and, like every capacitor, resistor and other part we’ve selected, mitigates electrical and thermal stress in order to optimize reliability, longevity and sound quality.

Equipped with both Single-ended (RCA) and Balanced (XLR) inputs, Doshi Monoblocks feature 50kOhm input impedance which allows our amplifiers to excel in virtually all systems, regardless of connectivity or electrical characteristics. Also residing on the back panel, our “Mute“ function uses microprocessors to block signal at both input and output, facilitating cable changes and system maintenance. And since even esoteric stereo systems must now be “Control Friendly,“ an optically isolated 12 Volt Trigger Loop enables our amplifiers to be powered on and off remotely.

Like all Doshi products, the Monoblock employs our Three Stage Decoupling™ technology to virtually eliminate the influence of both external and internal resonances upon performance. Critical audio circuits are point-to-point wired and mounted on an acoustically isolated sub-chassis. The entire
sub-chassis is suspended from a ½“ thick slab of DuPont Corian which, in turn, floats upon four vibration absorbing feet that are mechanically decoupled from the chassis. While our competitors build their enclosures from mild steel and aluminum, Doshi uses extremely strong 14 gauge stainless steel to create a chassis that is mechanically and electrically inert; as a result, our amplifiers provide an ideal foundation for performance. In another design flourish that all Doshi owners will hear—but few will ever see—the insides of our transformer covers are coated with sound-deadening paint developed to silence submarines.

Since audio components must be seen as well as heard, Doshi products are as beautiful to the eye as to the ear. Our Monoblock’s engraved aluminum front panel announces the quality of the circuitry within while facilitating output tube biasing, and other critical functions. A variety of Custom Finish Options encourage customers to tailor the amplifier to their tastes and decor: an opportunity for personal expression which few of our competitors can equal.

The Doshi Monblock is the culmination of everything we’ve learned regarding circuit design, reliability, product longevity, resonance control, system compatibility, user-friendliness and aesthetic beauty. We believe that Doshi’s ability to deliver a completely satisfying ownership experience is unique . We hope you’ll agree.

Cardas Audio Excels with Joseph and Doshi

But I would be remiss to not include the new Hybrid Stereo amp ($19,995) from Doshi Audio that were powering everything.  A gorgeous piece of amplifier, there are eight EL34 tubes with a mirror-like chrome cover of transformers behind reflecting the glass.  Joining in the fun were Doshi’s line stage ($17,995) and tape pre ($17,995).

RMAF 2018: Joseph Audio, Doshi Audio, Cardas and the Rest of Your Life

This was one of Jeff’s best-sounding set-ups I’ve heard—and I’ve heard quite a few—which led me to believe that the Doshi Audio amplification, as well as the Cardas Clear Beyond cabling, were providing uncommon synergy in the room.

The system played it with a tremendous sense of ease, the music simply existing between the speakers without apparent effort. Chris Thile’s voice had well-defined, full-bodied presence in the room, and the limber, graceful phrases played by banjoist Noam Pikelny were breathtaking in their realism.
